Tom Poberezny - "Reflections on EAA's Countdown to Kitty Hawk"

Our monthly museum speaker series continued in fine style on Wednesday, March 17, at 6:30 p.m. as Tom Poberezny presented a talk entitled Reflections on EAA's Countdown to Kitty Hawk. Tom offered a personal look back on our organization's efforts to celebrate the Centennial of Flight in 2003.

The presentation covered the progress of EAA's Countdown to Kitty Hawk program from beginning to end - from its genesis, through the construction of a highly accurate 1903 Wright Flyer reproduction, to the national tour that culminated on the sands of Kitty Hawk last December. Tom share anecdotes about some of the interesting people he met along the way, and some of the challenges that were faced in preparing for the flight re-enactment attempts on December 17, 2003.
