Experience The Good Ol' Days Of Aviation At Pioneer Airport

August 15, 2007 - Ever wonder what airports were like in the early days of air travel? You can see aviation's Golden Age for yourself this weekend at EAA's annual "Good Ol' Days" August 18-19 at EAA AirVenture Museum's Pioneer Airport. Experience the excitement and adventure of flight's early days brought back to life through EAA's classic vintage aircraft, along with vintage automobiles, characters from the past, and more.

Enjoy the Family Activity Center where you can participate in competitions like a pie-eating contest, or experience fun and games that were popular during the Golden Age of aviation. You won't want to miss the opening of the recently discovered time capsule from the 1930s.

Visit the vintage airmail station where you can create a piece of airmail that is flown in one of EAA's vintage mail planes. This free activity includes all materials and stamps. And throughout the weekend, barnstorming rides in EAA's incredible collection of vintage aircraft will be available, with other visiting vintage airplanes flying and on display.

EAA's Good Ol' Days of Aviation is included with regular museum admission. For EAA members, admission is always free. The event runs from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. both days.

Can You Solve the Murder Mystery?

EAA’s Aviation Murder Mystery dinner theater returns Friday and Saturday, August 17-18, to usher in the Good Ol’ Days weekend. Exhibit: Murder. There’s going to be a despicable murder at Pioneer Airport. Can you solve it?

Here’s the synopsis: After years of planning, Museum curator Evelyn Merriwether and famed archeologist Jack Slade have returned from a trip to Mexico’s famous Aztec ruins. This dynamic duo has retuned with a relic of the treasured Quetzalcoatl, an Aztec god. This famed feathered serpent statue will be the highlight of the Museum’s ancient collection. Or will it?

(Be sure to keep a close eye on the statue. Apparently people are dying to get their hands on it!)

Tickets, which include dinner, are available priced $30 for EAA members and $35 for non-members. Reservations are recommended.
