Young people and everyone in the family can discover more about the fascinating worlds of chemistry and aviation as the EAA AirVenture Museum hosts "Chemistry Day at EAA" from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 25.

The event will be held in cooperation with the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and the American Chemical Society, in conjunction with National Chemistry Week (October 19-25). The event will highlight how the worlds of flight and chemistry are very closely related, and how chemistry is an essential part of aviation. Scheduled hands-on activities will include:

- Making "OOBLECK" (similar to Silly Putty) and "slime";

- Electricity and aviation;

- Plastic properties (materials composition);

- Light properties and the pilot;

- Safety in the skies and chromatography;

- Atmospheric properties of pressure and temperature.

The winners of the National Chemistry Week poster contest will also be displayed at the museum. The "Chemistry Day at EAA" activities are included as part of regular museum admission.

The EAA AirVenture Museum is located just off Highway 41 at the Highway 44 exit in Oshkosh. The Museum is open Monday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call the EAA AirVenture Museum at (920) 426-4818 or visit www.airventuremuseum.org.
