December 7, 2004 - Today we observe the 63rd anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor that resulted in more than 2,400 Americans killed and thrust the U.S. into World War II. EAA invites the public to a special evening program at the EAA AirVenture Museum featuring Thomas Kimmel, a retired FBI special agent and grandson of Adm. H.E. Kimmel, commander-in-chief of U.S. naval forces in the Pacific on Dec. 7, 1941.
The Admiral was relieved of duty 10 days after the attack and received much of the blame in subsequent official investigations. Kimmel will explore some of the unanswered questions and mysteries surrounding that tragic day in a program titled, "Remember Pearl Harbor: Was Admiral Kimmel to Blame?" The program begins at 6:30 p.m. CST and for EAA members unable to attend, it will be webcast live for EAA Members. (An archive will be available to the public at a later date.)
