Good Ol' Days
Pioneer Airport Living History Event

August 29 and 30
10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

EAA's Good Ol' DaysEAA's window to the past comes to life for our annual living history event, Good Ol' Days, Saturday, August 29, and Sunday, August 30, at Pioneer Airport. The usual staff and volunteers will be temporarily "replaced" by citizens from the 1920s and 30s. Join us as we journey back in time to the "golden age" of aviation.

Activities will be available for all ages including a children's activity center where kids will have the opportunity to experience hands-on games that were popular during the early days of flight. Those with a sweet tooth can join in on the pie-eating contest, and those with a sweet spot for vintage vehicles can get an up-close view at many pre-war vehicles on display including a 1924 fire truck. Other activities include special flightline displays and hangar tours.

You can also watch staff hand-prop vintage airplanes or take a ride in two of Pioneer Airport's vintage aircraft. Our "time travelers" can experience the sights and sounds of an open-air cockpit in EAA's 1927 Swallow and 1929 Travel Air biplanes.

Young Eagles flights will also be available in EAA Young Eagles aircraft for aviation enthusiasts ages 8 to 17.

Good Ol' Days event admission and all event activities are included in regular Museum admission. Vintage airplane rides, sandwiches, beverages and snacks are available for an additional cost.

We'll see you in the past!

Bell 47 Helicopter September 11-13, 2009
You won't want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience an important part of aviation history through EAA’s Bell 47 Fantasy Flight Camp September 11-13. The Bell 47 helicopter is well known from its portrayal on television programs such as Whirlybirds and M*A*S*H. But, more importantly, it was instrumental in the Korean War, coming to swiftly carry wounded soldiers to life-saving medical facilities. Be a part of the weekend ground school exploring this unique aircraft that has been a major part of our history and popular culture.  EAA AirVenture Museum's Ford Tri-motor
Modules will include rotorcraft aerodynamics, Bell 47 systems, utility helicopter operations, and a Bell 47 flight experience. To learn more about this camp and other EAA Fantasy Flight Camps, visit www.fantasyflightcamp.org.

B-17 Fantasy Flight Camp December 18 - 20, 2009
This weekend ground school at the EAA Aviation Center explores one of America’s most famous military airplanes, the B-17. This camp is experts-led and immerses program participants in the history of the B-17. Participants will also meet B-17 veterans and receive a 20-minute flight experience in EAA’s “Aluminum Overcast,” one of a tiny handful of B-17s left flying in the world. The flight allows participants to walk about the aircraft and visit the various compartments experiencing what it may have been like for the crew in WWII.
