1944 Fairchild M62A / PT-19B Cornell N61013

The Fairchild PT-26 was developed to fill the need for a rugged and dependable monoplane military primary trainer. The PT-26 is a low-wing monoplane, which features a two place enclosed tandem cockpit and fixed landing gear. PT-26s were used to give better instruction on the flight characteristics of the fighter planes the trainees would soon transition to. It was not as easy to fly as the earlier biplane trainers, which helped trainees learn better flight skills. This example was sold as war surplus shortly after the end of World War II, as were many others.
