1970 Wittman Witts V N3259

Steve Wittman built the prototype Witts V to help spur interest in the new Formula V racing class. Formula V racers were powered by Volkswagen automobile engines and were intended to provide a low cost entry into air racing. The Witts V proved very competitive and very successful. Steve Wittman sold plans for the aircraft, so several other Witts Vs were built and competed against it in the class.

Donated by: The Estate of Sylvester J. “Steve” and Paula M. Wittman, Oshkosh, WI.
